  1. yes

  2. They actually have GPS tracking collars, but they're large and not very practical. Right now the only way the chip will work is if someone finds the animal and has them scanned.

  3. No its not a tracking device, its a tiny microchip with your address and details on it, so if you cat was missing and someone took it to the vet, the vet could scan the microchip and read your adress and contact you...

  4. No, sorry it is not a homing device. Check your local shelters too. Chips only tell shelters and vets who the cat belongs too and the address you live at.

  5. No. The cat would have to be taken to the vet to be scanned. That's the only way to tell if the cat has a microchip. However, if someone were to find the cat, they would have to take it to the vet for vaccines, check-up, etc. and there the vet would scan the cat. I hope this answers your question.

  6. No.

Unless the cat had a GPS transmitter implanted in it.  For just a microchip, it would have to be scanned to identify the cat which would have to be done at a vets office.

  7. no it wouldn't work that way, but you can spend more money on a better chip that could track her i believe....

  8. the readers under present technology, need to be very close to the chip to get the number.  Unless the Pound get the cat, no idea

all animals are checked for chips during the medical by the vet.

satellite tracking is a few years off, so we are told....

report your cat as missing to the register, the details will be added to the file.

that way if some old dear takes the cat to the vet after caring for it for a few weeks.  You will be contacted

  9. sorry hun u cant

good luck hope u find ur kitty <3

  10. YES, YOU CAN. but Remember our government is working on implanting them on humans too. So get ready, lol

  11. A microchip is not a tracking device. It contains an id number. This number is stored in a computer database along with your contact info. Which computer database holds the info depends upon the company that made the microchip and with which companies you decide to register your info. The cat must be taken to a shelter or vet's office and scanned with a handheld device to obtain the id number in order to then contact you.

  12. The microchip has a code on it that tells the scanner who it belongs to. Vets have microchip scanners, and so do most Animal Shelters and Humane Societies.

But if no one ever finds the cat, let alone bothers to get it scanned for a chip, it really doesn't help.

But if they take it somewhere that has a scanner, they can contact you and keep the cat until you get there.

  13. Nope, sorry man.  Unfortunately it has to be scanned using a scanner, which gives an ID number which they can then use to identify your pet.

  14. no they have to b brought to the vet

  15. No, it is not a tracking device.  The cat would have to be scanned by an organization that has the ability to do so.  Example, vet, humane society, etc.
