A very good friend of mine has recently run away from home. Because she is not a minor, her parents did not file any sort of warrant or police report. I know for a fact that she is OK, because she is in contact with me through email and Facebook. I just need to find out where she is located exactly. She will not return home, under any circumstances. Her father is a cop, and he has been abusive to her in the past, part of the reason for her leaving. I need to know if it is possible to find out where she is exactly. I have searched using IP's from emails and WHOIS searches, but they always end up at the ISP's address. Is it possible to find her exact location?

  1. IP addresses change every time you log on to the internet.. so it would do no good to try you can only get it infomation if you know the ISP ip address  and who it is...

  2. Try asking the ISP

  3. I do know that you might be able to narrow it down to a specific city, or a 20 mile radius. If you want, you can simply search location to IP in Google and you will get several results. One site that I found works is http://www.iplocation.net/   Please keep in mind that this does not work for every IP address, and if their address is given to them by DHCP (Dynamic), then it is possible you are finding the location of a different person.

  4. With an IP address, you can get a general location, though it's not always accurate.  (For example, most IP-locators say that I an in New York City, despite the fact that I'm about 50 miles away from NYC.)  Only the ISP could give you further details, and they're not going to do that without a court order.

  5. nope

  6. not without a court order to force the ISP to tell you where that IP was leased to.
