  1. Wow, sounds like you had a rough time!

I really like the book, "The Teenage Liberation Handbook" by Grace Llewellyn. It talks about self-guided education without worksheets or textbooks. It's completely amazing and inspiring.

    Hope it all works out!

  2. I agree with Andi.  You can certainly do this on your own.

http://lowryhousepublishers.com/TeenageL... was written for kids like you.

Mind you, this doesn't mean sitting at the kitchen table with a bunch of textbooks.  You will need to be very actively involved in your education.

    Be well.

  3. home schooling. just ask your parents or something, a teacher maybe. they will give you a phone number and an adress you get everything you need. just at home. you have to come to a big building once every couple months to do tests.  good luck. oh yeah and by the way. if you kinda want to catch up to your normal grade which i think would be grade 9or 10, you should get a tutor and do all your work faster so you can catch up to your grade level.  good luck!!!

  4. Doing it on your own doesn't sound like a great idea, since you wouldn't have any guidance. It also isn't legal.  And I wouldn't recommend home schooling, because even if your parents are willing to do it, the fact that they didn't help you get through 7th grade three times would suggest to me that they may not have the skills or the time to do so.  I can understand your frustration, though.  Can you look into continuation school?  I don't know what the limitations are where you live, but I've known a lot of people who had trouble in regular school who managed to finish that way, since there was more individual attention and the pacing was better suited to students who don't learn well in the regular setting.  I also have to wonder if you have ever been tested for a learning disability?  Unless you have just been blowing school off, your posting is clear and I can't imagine why 7th grade would be such a tremendous challenge to you.

  5. just go to your school and ask for Independent studies all you do is packets at home and go to the school were they have the program and turn it in once or twice a week.

  6. Wow, You better stay in school and get your education.

  7. Yes, you *absolutely* can do it by yourself at home.

It is also, whatever neniaf claims, *absolutely* legal.

(You'd need your mum on-side because you'd need her consent to go ahead and do it but, anything more than that, you don't need her (or anyone else) for! Not in the eyes of the law, anyway.)

I'm 15 too. I'm in charge of *ALL* my own learning; I decide what I wish to learn and when and how I wish to learn it, as do all my siblings. None of us uses any 'school' things: no curriculum, no syllabus, no schedule, no testing, no grades, no passing/failing.

Check out: http://homeschoolaustralia.beverleypaine...  for more detailed information on 'how to go about it' etc.

And always remember: 'Education is compulsory; School is not'.
