I have a 1987 carbureted 305 camaro 5.0 and I am having a hard time finding the correct a/c hoses. All I can find online and in the junkyard are 2.8 liter camaros which are a different size hose and z28 iroc hoses which are different as well. Will it be o.k if I just put rubber cement where the cracks are on the hoses?? I don't see why not!! It should prevent leaks and I can bear this hot weather. All is appreciated thanks!!

  1. Most AC shops can make up new hoses. Glue will not hold up to the pressure.

  2. no, you really can't

If you can't find OEM replacement hose, at least use actual vacuum/pressure hose.

  3. The pressure it too high for the glue to hold.  There ought to be a shop in the area that will make up the hoses on the spot.

  4. no you cannot repair hoses with glue. However normal drycracks on the exterior of the hoses do not leak. Most leaks are at the connections caused by o-ring degredation. If you are sure that your hoses are leaking try a radiator or specialty repair shop that can use your current hose ends and replace the rubber part of the line with new hoses.

  5. No the pressure and temps on  the hoses are to extreme . Rubber cement will melt . UAP/NAPA can get them for you. I found a few at the wreckers , but don`t know where you are. Have a look here.

http://car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi.Y... may be able to get away with putting sealer in but I don`t think it will work on a rubber hose for very long. Try looking at Olds cutlass and Pontiac gran prix`s as well. Good luck.

  6. When the A/C isn't working you have aprox 70 to 80 # pressure on the hole system. When the A/C is working you have 30 to 40 # on the low side and as much as 500# on the high side. I don"t know of any glue that will hold pressures like that. Bite the bullett and order a new hose and any other O-Rings you need,,, nows the time to chage it before you recharge it. Good luck
