Question:

Can I fix a DVD player laser myself?

Something is wrong with my DVD player. DVDs and CDs, some of them brand new (I sometimes play music CDs on it), are skipping badly at random times. I tried cleaning it with a cleaning disc, but that didn't help. I suspect the laser. Is there anywhere I can buy a replacement laser myself (I don't care about voiding the warranty by opening this thing up, because I think the warranty's long since expired), or is it hopeless? I'm the type who would always rather fix equipment than replace it.

  1. it depends on the brand of the dvd player, some are a real pain to dissassamble, some are easier but one thing is for sure, laser replacement are expensive and a little hard to find so spare yourself the trouble and buy a new player
