My husband and I are scheduled to fly tomorrow, but he just tells me that his ID is expired. Will he be able to fly with an expired ID?

  1. He MAY not be - a valid ID means an up-to-date ID - if I was him, I would go to DMV today and get a new one - why take the chance of having a problem with your flight.

  2. expired is the same as invalid. it is no longer an acceptable form of I.D..

  3. He will be able to fly with the expired ID only if he goes through additional screening at the security checkpoint -- this is required by the TSA for all persons who do not have a valid ID.  (As has been pointed out already, expired ID is not considered to be valid, but the TSA doesn't have a strict requirement for passengers to have valid ID in order to fly.)
