Can I gain weight and build muscle without going on a strict diet?

I recently started lifting weights with the goal to build muscle and gain weight. Can I continue to eat "unhealthy food" (soda, candy, ice cream) and still meet this goal? If not, can I take supplements, continue to eat these foods and meet my goal?

  1. You shouldn't eat unhealthy foods while your on a workout regime. Lifting weights will add muscle, which will add healthy weight to your body. You should eat healthier foods than that because unhealthy foods add fat which too much fat isn't healthy for your body. It doesn't have to be a strict diet, just eat healthier food choices and occasionally it'll be ok to have a can of soda or a sundae because you need some fat in your diet.
