Can I get FAFSA without parents?

I have not had a job and im 21. My dads a pain in the ars, so im wondering if i can file my FAFSA without having him on it. But the problem is i dont have a tax return becasue again, ive never had a job. Any knowledge on this situation anyone?

  1. You can get FAFSA without your parents information, however there are certain stipulations that qualify you. 1) You must be established as an adult either by age requirements which are 24 yrs of age. 2) have been married or divorced if under the age of 24. 3) Have children if you are under the age of 24. If you don't meet at least 1 of these criterias you will need your parent's information as well as tax returns.


  2. I did a FAFSA this year and it seems they had info on the website about it.  Giving parent information is optional in some situations.  I didn't have to give mine, but i am older.  Go to the website.  It is a great site, easy and with good info.  Do you live with him and does he claim you?  These are things they will want to know.
