I know that if I was under 18 years of age at the time my parents were naturalized I would automatically receive citizenship, however I was OVER 18 and cannot seem to find any information what this means for me. I know I can't get automatic citizenship, but can I still apply for citizenship based on their naturalized status? I am currently a permenent green card holder.

Thank you!

  1. You  don't even need to do that. You are over 18 years old and as long as you have no felony record, have had your green card for more than 5 years and have not been out of this country for more than 1 year, you can apply on your own merits to become a citizen.

    Good Luck

  2. No your parents no longer have any bearing on your status since you are over 18. You have to apply on your own
