Are pre licensing classes offered all the time and how long do they typically last? How often is the test given?

  1. You absolutely can! there are a number of schools running classes all the time. You can try Werbel, Kaplan, and Ace. There are always classes available. You can also try CW Post they offer classes as well. There are a number of ways to get it. BUT.... you can often get a company to pay for all your courses and the test if you are working for them. Probably the best thing to do is work for an agency... get some experience and at the same time have them pay for your school. Good Luck!

  2. I don't know how it is in NY, i live in Florida and you can get your license without working for an agency first, you need to check with who issues license in NY and  find out what the requirements are.

i took my pre  licensing course online. license2go.com

and you can visit pearsonvue.com  to schedule for fingerprint and test.

  3. Yes, you can just take the pre-licensing class. I don't know if NY classes are the same as Maine, but when I took the class it was three days long. I believe in Maine they only offer the class twice a year but they may offer it more in NY. I didn't see it listed on the education calendar on this website: http://www.iiaba.net/ny/default?ContentP... but it says if you have any questions to e-mail the Education Department of the New York State Insurance Department at coned@ins.state.ny.us . They should be able to tell you when/where the next class is. Good luck!
