Can I get a better deal working with listing agent then other realtor when searching for a home?

Looking at vacation property in Florida. Doesn't llisting agent primarily represent seller?

  1. Yes, a listing agent does represent the seller.  If you're looking to purchase a home, you should do some research and interview some agents who are willing to represent you, preferably as what's called a "Buyer's Agent."  Most likely, they'll ask you to sign some sort of contract saying you will work strictly with them for a certain time period.  There also could be a Buyer's Agent fee included.  Some agents require the buyer pay a commission, on top of the commission earned from the seller.  Again, do your research on local agents and find one that compliments you!  Buying property is much easier to get through when you know you're working with someone who is looking out for your best interest, and not just trying to get a sale for the seller!  Good luck!!


  2. Yes. The listing agent is the one the seller looked for putting his property on the market. Although he represents the seller he can legally represent both of you. Some times this can save a lot of delays and things can go much quicker. If you have any doubts that the agent may be bias you can also get a realtor of your own. Keep in mind that if the listing agent represents you he can be less expensive that if you get one on your own.

  3. i would recommend to use your own agent to negotiate for you...listing  agents usually cannot negotiate for you because it may not represent the sellers best interest..

  4. Get your own agent. How can someone look after both of your best interest when one is the seller and one is the buyer ?

  5. Yes, they have a contract with the seller, you should have your own agent.    Never do the dual agent thing.
