  1. Some dealers will give you the CarFax report automatically. I bought a used car last Saturday in Anaheim and the lot owner printed out the CarFax for me, right in front of me. However, other places won't. If course you could just pay for it yourself, like I did the previous time I bought a used car, that time from a private party. When you are going to spend thousands, what's $30.00 for the CarFax??

  2. I'm sorry, but, we can't, at least not legally.

Full Carfax &/or Autocheck reports cost the dealers money too. Dealers pay for each & every report that they run.

Individuals purchase carfax accounts for a subscribed amount of time (usually by the month) , but dealers normally use the service on a daily basis, so there is not an 'unlimited' amount of reports.

Even those people that have (paid) "unlimited" Carfax & Autocheck accounts can ONLY use those accounts "personally".

It would be against their Terms of Service to run the VIN for you. And there are heavy legal fines imposed if a person or a dealer is caught running those reports for you.

    Excerpt from Carfax legal disclaimer:

"CARFAX and its affiliates and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark and other applicable intellectual property laws. You may not modify, publish, TRANSMIT, display, participate in the transfer or sale, create derivative works, or in any way exploit any of the Content, in whole or in part. "

I don't mean this disrespectfully, but everybody (even DEALERS) has to pay for Carfax & Autocheck full reports.

You should ask the SELLER of this vehicle to provide the reports,

If there is nothing to hide, the seller can & should run the report, make it available to potential buyers, & absorb the fee.

I/We consider that a cost of doing business & it protects BOTH the buyer & seller.

Carfax & AutoCheck companies are NOT non-profit organizations. They charge for their research results & rightly so....They do not allow paying users to run results for non-paying users.

    AGAIN- no disrespect intended!

    They just don't allow it.

And a dealer/person could get in trouble (legally) for doing it for you.

(& they could get in trouble with Yahoo! for posting that which is illegal to post.)

    I am sorry.

  3. most likely they will make you pay, try and find a salesman you know that will do it for you.
