Can I get a credit card?

I'm 16 and I live in California. My mom wants to get me a debit card and a credit card from Washington Mutual but my friend said I have to be 18. If my mom co-signs it or something, am I allowed to get the credit card?

if your mother co-signs then yes you should be able to get a credit card

if u r not rich, or do not have a job to pay the bills urself, then i advise not to get a credit card.
