Can I get a grant for college?

How can I get a grant for college? Is it easy to get one? And will it pay for all of college or just part of it? Also what is a pell grant? I want to go to college, but I have no idea how I will be able to afford it. I don't want to be in debt due to student loans for the next 20 years. Please help! I'm so confused!

You have to file a FAFSA which includes income of yourself and your parents (if you are under 24). They will determine based on your income how eligible you are for grants. Depending on the cost of the school and your need-base, they may pay some of it, all of it or none at all.

Word of advice. If at all possible stay away from student loans, the pay-back will tear you up financially when you graduate. Speak with the guidance counselor(s) at the school you chose to go to about obtaining financial assistance. Financial assistance from FAFSA you do not pay back and it covers most if not all of your tuition and books for each quarter. Also, the school you chose may offer work study programs, suggestion; look into this as well, it could make a difference. Two of my classmates put food on their table this way.
