Can I get a more accurate picture of our economy than my parents had ?

During the 1970s and 1980s, my parents claimed that the government messed up the economy to the point where people had to use every penny they made to pay their bills . My mom used to tell me "People can't afford to buy books or go to the movies !" . Back in the 1970s, I bought a few books and a few movie tickets, but the bookstores definitely weren't surviving on what I gave them . In the economy my parents perceived, publishing companies, bookstores, and movie theatres couldn't possibly exist . In reality, publishing companies publish millions of books every year, bookstores sell those books, and movies make millions of dollars every year . We've all heard about the most successful movies of 2008 on the news, and they're making PLENTY of money !

The shape of USA and world economy is bad and it can be worst. But one thing is the country economy and other is your economy. Although the country economy can be very bad, the economic situation of a family can be very well if that family understand how to move in crisis times.
