I am 16 years old, I'll be 17 on August 27th (in roughly 3 months). I haven't done ANY drivers training, I don't have my permit or anything, absolutely nothing. But I heard from some people that I can get a motorcycle license, and that it only takes like three months to get. I don't really believe this, but it REALLY interested me. So my question is: Can I get a motorcycle license without my drivers license? And how long does motorcycle drivers training take? Also, if I can't get my motorcycle license, could I get a moped or scooter license, and how long would that take?

I know there are a lot of questions. But I am really desperate to be able to drive myself to school, work, and around town. I AM going to get my car drivers license, but that takes alot of time, so I need something to drive in the meantime. Thanks to everyone answering this!

  1. In Ma. you go to the R.M.V. read a book and take a written test of 10 questions. If you pass you are given a permit that is good for a year.

  2. for a motercycle lisecne u have to take a course.  for moped or scooter no liiscence needed :D hope i helped :D

  3. I don't know Michigan law specifically, but in most states you can.

  4. I think those people are confused. Some states give restricted licenses for scooters under 2 horsepower to youngsters and folks with no drivers license, but a regular motorcycle license is just an endorsement on your car license.

  5. You will need training for a motorcycle license, unless you don't care about dying.
