Question:

Can I get a new referral to new oral surgeon?

My dentist referred me to an oral surgeon to have my wisdom teeth extracted, but the surgeon cannot even get me in for a consultation for 2 1/2 months. And I'm in a lot of pain. I found another oral surgeon who can see me next Tuesday...will my dentist give me a referral to this new guy if I call and ask? Or does it have to be the one he originally referred me to?

  1. call your dentist's office and ask them.  if you have a dental plan that only uses certain providers, you'll be limited to them or pay more to see someone else.  if you want a real answer, call the dentist.

  2. No it does not have to be the one you were referred to, just phone the dentists office and get another referral letter or sometimes you dont even need a referral, you surgeon must just write a feedback note to your dentist.
