Question:

Can I get a surround sound receiver that will automatically change its audio when i change the input on my tv?

NOTE: Please suggest surround sound packages or receivers that can do this if they make them (either one that detects the change or one that simply has one audio feed from the tv).

  1. I think you're having this the other way around.

    The way you want it is impossible. One devide cannot know if the second device change it's input.

    You'd need a receiver that has both video/audio switching capabilities.

    Most recent receivers do have this and I think this is what you want.

    DVD -> Component/Audio Cables -> Receiver

    Xbox -> Component/Audio Cables -> Receiver

    Cable Box -> Component/Audios Cable -> Receiver

    Receiver -> Component Cable -> HDTV

    Receiver -> Audio cables -> Speakers

    You change inputs on the receiver and it automatically sends the corresponding video to the tv and audio to the speakers.
