Question:

Can I get a totally free Vehicle History Report?

I bought a used car from a dealership and I'm pretty sure the car was in a previous accident, a pretty bad one. I don't really want to put any more money (even if it is only $20) into the car if there is something seriously wrong with it. I have asked the dealership but they can't seem to give me a straight answer.

  1. no u cant, i tried to get a free one too but you cant.

    1 CARFAX Report for $24.99

    10 CARFAX Reports for $29.99

    Unlimited CARFAX Reports for $34.99

so just buy  10 CARFAX Reports for $29.99 and search other cars.

you can just get a free record check that shows you the number of records they have on file.

  2. You've signed the paperwork, the car is yours regardless of what a Carfax report says. You should have spent the $20 before you signed the paperwork.

Obviously, this information has value to you, so why not pay for it. Information is free, useful information costs money.

  3. If you are looking for the history of a specific vehicle - than there are no free sites. Nobody is going to collect all that data - 20,000 sources for Carfax, pay for all the computers to run the site and all the employees to run the computers - and give it away for free.

Sellers can buy a vehicle history report and share it with you!  The fact that the dealer won't provide one is interesting.  But, as another person said, you need to do this research BEFORE buying the car.
