  1. Yes, the drinking age in most provinces (i.e. Ontario) is 19.  You will need government issued photo ID AND your birth certificate, OR a valid passport.  You will not have a criminal record if you are asked or if they check you out because those offences are not criminal matters and were committed when you were a juvenile.  If they ask if you have a criminal record you can truthfully say that you have not.  Good luck!!

  2. Dinking age in Manitoba,Alberta and Quebec is 18. Saskatchewan is 19 and I think BC and Ontario are too. Not sure about the rest though.

The underage possession shouldn't bother you. It's not a major criminal offence as far as I know.

  3. OK you got the right answer in the very first one you got.  Some of these people are being ridculous. Do NOT lie to the border guards, don't say you are going to a game if you aren't.  Tell them the truth.

Secondly, the REAL laws are as follows: if you are driving across the border (in either direction) a passport is NOT, i repeat NOT required.  What IS required is a valid government issued photo id (such as a driver's licence) AND proof of citizenship.  The passport doesn't become required until June 2009.

And yes the drinking age is 19, 18 in some provinces.

and no, those are misdemenors (sp?).  As long as there isn't an active warrant out for you, you are fine to cross.

I love how people spout off "information" that isn't even true.  no wonder more and more people are misinformed.

  4. Heh, my aunt and uncle go to Canada all the time, and they say that if you tell the border patrol people that you're going to a hockey game in Ontario and you're staying at the Sheradin (if they ask where you're staying) they'll let you right through...

Edit:  However, we live in Maine and you don't need a passport to get into Canada from here (I think, or that may just be for Nova Scotia) so they may be easier on people going through.

  5. Do you have a passport?  You may be able to get into Canada but coming back to the states can be an issue if you don't have a passport.  They can tell you at the border what you need to have.

  6. You should be fine getting across the border as long as you are eligible to drive currently in the US with your MIP's.

The drinking age is 19 in most of Canada, and in Quebec it's 18! Because the French Canadians love their wine. :)

My best advice though is don't offer information that the customs guy doesn't require you to answer.  Only answer briefly what you're asked, but always be honest.  The worst case scenario is you'll have a longer wait to enter.

  7. You need a passport.
