Can I get cash refund for a giftcard purchase at walmart?

This is going to sound wierd but I want to know that if I bought something from walmart with a gift card could I get a refund for it in cash or will it go back onto the giftcard? I bought an item at walmart with a gift card and i just found today a similar item but one I like much better at another store...but I don't really have the extra money to just come out and buy it...I need to take the walmart item back and get a refund so I can spend that money on the other one....

If you have a receipt, you should be able to get cash back.
