Hi, I haven't had much of an appetite since Thursday so I have only eaten a few things since then. And the past two days I have been getting diarrhea and it is much worse today. I don't know what is wrong, do you think that me not eating that much lately, that when I do eat it causes that. I haven't ate since last night(5 bites of a sandwich), but I am still getting diarrhea today... Any help or opinions would be great! Thanks so much!

  1. more fluids, less food can cause diarrhea. and spicy taco would DEFENITLY cause diarrhea! not a good idea..! white rice is really easy on your stomach, so that would be a good food to have though... :)

  2. What causes diarrhea?

Acute diarrhea is usually related to a bacterial, viral, or parasitic infection. Chronic diarrhea is usually related to functional disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease.

A few of the more common causes of diarrhea include the following:

Bacterial infections. Several types of bacteria consumed through contaminated food or water can cause diarrhea. Common culprits include Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, and Escherichia coli (E. coli).

Viral infections. Many viruses cause diarrhea, including rotavirus, Norwalk virus, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex virus, and viral hepatitis.

Food intolerances. Some people are unable to digest food components such as artificial sweeteners and lactose—the sugar found in milk.

Parasites. Parasites can enter the body through food or water and settle in the digestive system. Parasites that cause diarrhea include Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, and Cryptosporidium.

Reaction to medicines. Antibiotics, blood pressure medications, cancer drugs, and antacids containing magnesium can all cause diarrhea.

Intestinal diseases. Inflammatory bowel disease, colitis, Crohn’s disease, and celiac disease often lead to diarrhea.

Functional bowel disorders. Diarrhea can be a symptom of irritable bowel syndrome.

it is usually a sign of dehydration

  3. Absolutely.  When you don't put solids in your stomach your body doesn't have much but fluids to pass.  When your stomach is feeling better and you are able to eat full meals you should notice your bowel movements will change back to the right consistency.  Try yogurt it has cultures in it that are good for digestion and can help your bowel movements.  You need to stay hydrated so drink non decaffeinated fluids.  If it doesn't get better in a couple days see your doctor.  There are medications that can help with nausea and increase your appetite.  Hang in there and get well soon :>)

  4. YOU NEED TO EAT!!! Eat more proteins. Your body need it or you'll end up dehydrated and die. Start eating with probiotic foods like...yogurt, and danone drinks....you need to boost up the good bacteria in your stomach to stop the diarrhea. Take pedialtye to avoid dehydration and start eating bowl of whit steamed rice and banana's okay!!!

  5. It could be that you are replacing your meals with fluids and that your body has too much fluid that it doesn't need. If you are drinking instead of eating then your body is going to put the water out and that will lead to diarrhea.
