I am currently enrolled at a local community college pursuing my AS in Nursing, but right now I am working part time as a customer service rep and wanted to start getting experience in what I was going to do in the future(nursing), so I wanted to attend a local tech school to get a certificate as CNA or Tech(takes about 8 weeks) My question is is it possible to get finacial at both schools or will I have to pay for one out of pocket?

  1. A CNA certificate program is not long enough to get federal fin aid for... and I doubt the Tech program is eather.  Either way you can't get fin aid from two schools at once.

  2. Nope, if you try and do it the government will come after you for fraud!  I attended two schools at once while working on my undergrad degree, I just took out extra loans at the school I was getting aid from to pay for the other school.

In my state (Arkansas) nursing students are allowed to work as CNAs without a CNA certificate.  Check and see if your state has a similar program!

  3. Normally not. You get grants for one school only. But if you are taking some different course in some other school and your financial background is very poor, in that case the school may arrange something for you.
