Can I get good running trainers for under £40?

I went into JJB Sports earlier and the guy told me that half the running trainers there were not suitible for what I want to do.

I told him I like to do 10km runs at the gym and he thinks I need Asics but they just look so hideaous I wouldn't want to buy them. Surely a good pair of £30 nike running trainers would do the job no?

Have a look at www.mandmdirect.com That's where I buy my running gear from, all at discounted prices too. The best brand for long distance running is New Balance, not Nike. Just thought I'd share that with you.
