I am currently in the 9th grade in a public school, next year I want to get homeschooled for the 10th grade, then come back to a public high school for my 11th and 12th grade years. My question is, will the courses I took during homeschooling get transfered with me to the public school, and will I graduate with a public high school diploma?

  1. You have to ask your school that. Each school has its own policy. Part of it will depend on what you do specifically for that year off--if you do an online public school or independent study (instead of homeschooling under legal terms), then there shouldn't be a problem. If you just do regular homeschooling, you could face some difficulties. Find out for sure from your school before you do it. If they say it's okay, make sure to get it in writing.

  2. yes it will get transported to your school when you register back to the public school and you will get a normal deplomia

  3. I can't imagine why you wouldn't just homemschool all through highschool if you want to for one year, but yes. If you do online school, or a private umbrella school, your credits will transfer (most likely). If you do traditional homeschooling, the school may just require you to take a simple entrance exam to determine what grade to place you in and what credits to award you. You will still graduate.

  4. It really depends on how you are home schooled. If you attend an online charter school like k12 or Connections Academy, they will provide you with a diploma and transcripts. My son attended an online charter school and now attends the University of Dayton ( a private college ) and he has scholarships as well no different then if he had attended a regular public school or a private school.

If you are doing traditional homeschooling then chances are you will not receive a diploma or transcripts in the sense that most people think of them. The important thing is NOT the diploma. The transcripts are the ONLY really important thing. The transcripts are really the only thing the colleges and possibly employers want to look at.

A diploma is just something to frame and hang. Here are some that you can download and hang from Microsoft office online

If you were traditionally home schooled by a parent for example, then your parent needs to prepare a transcript for you.

  5. Yes, They will.

  6. Yes you can do that. In fact, that's exactly what I am doing.
