Question:

Can I get in legal trouble for visiting a friend on school grounds?

My girlfriend is in her final year of high school at the school across the street from me (she's 17, I'm 18, don't freak).

I figure during the year I'll go over and say hello when I can. I heard from some friends that one of their older friends gets escorted off of school grounds whenever he is seen because the admins think he is around too much.

All I'd be doing is meeting my gf by the door, talking as we walk to her bus and giving her a hug/kiss before she gets on. Can I get in any legal trouble for this, or would I just be repeatedly escorted off the grounds?

  1. You are not supposed to be on school property during school hours.  There are all sorts of reasons why.

Some are safety issues, such as they have no idea if you mean any harm.

Others are for simple reasons such as, your presence may interfere with your girlfriend's education or would be a distraction to others.

If you are not a student of that school, the school police will escort you off grounds.  If you are caught again, they will cite you for tresspassing.

  2. If your meeting her after school hours ( walking her to her bus) or going out for lunch i don't think that's against the law. Your friends may have been taken off the grounds becuase they were visiting during school hours, eating lunch in the school ect. I use to pick my bf up at school everything day ( same age just different schools) and that was fine so.
