My dad has a big motorized satellite dish from the old days when we couldn't get cable out in the boonies. Well he still can't get cable and DSL is annoyingly slow. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get internet access through a big satellite dish. I know there's got to be a way, I just don't know about the cost.

  1. It can be done but the cost is high. The link below is the current method and the costs

  2. Satellite internet is provided through many providers, the big three are Hughesnet, Wildblue, and Starband. They all have download limits, although Wildblue, and Starband seem to be better on that end. They all have a lot of latency, compared to DSL and cable. I would recommend you go to all three of their webpages to find out the specifics. But no, you can not use your satellite dish, you have to use theirs.

  3. yes you can get satellite internet, but you need a internet service provider first.  its designed manly for business since monthly costs can easly reach $150-$200 per month
