Can I get into Art School for photography if I can't do any other art?

I can't paint, draw, sculpt, illustrate, or graphically design for the life of me. I mean, I'm not atrociously horrible, I can manage, but DEFINITELY not "art school material". The only art form besides theatre, music, and writing that I am remotely good at is photography. I have a lot of passion for the art and have been told I am quite talented. Will I be able to get into art school for it with a portfolio solely comprised of photography? Or is art school looking for a well-rounded artiste??

  1. you have no talents

  2. Well, Photography is an art in itself, but you will have to check with the particular art school you are looking into.  I would think YES. Plus, once you are going there I bet they would require you to take a few other classes that you are not good at, which ultimately would work with your aspect of photography to make it even better.  Like painting, for example....  when you paint you start to look at subjects in the forms of color, shapes, highlights, and shadows.  And when you photograph you are seeing subjects in the same form, but it is much easier to capture with a camera.

Also, if you are solely, only interested in Photography, you should look into one of the Photography schools, I believe one of the best is New York Photography Institute.
