  1. no you cannot, if someone told you, you can, they are retards, there is no such thing as a Force recon scout sniper, like the movie Shooter, theres Force Recon, then Recon battalions, there are 5 companies total in Force Recon, 2nd has been deactivated, 3rd 4th 5th are the reserves now, and 1st is the only company that is active duty. which makes it even harder to get into knowing its the only active company and everyone going infantry is going to want in... Recon battalions there are i think 4-5 differen't battalions, they need marines there, so you should head there, if you are a marine, but if your not a marine by asking this question you have shown you do not have what it takes if you were to go into FORECON indoc knowing what you only know now, its seems by the question anyway.

Lets say you do make it in, Force Recon teams aren't like the SEALS that have all the specialties within the teams... If a Force Recon wants to be a scout sniper, he has to leave his MOS to go to scout sniper school, that is if he makes it. You can however (in which most cases do) be a Force Recon and make Scout Sniper there secondary MOS, you wont be a scout sniper but you will have the training needed to be one, but you'll still fall under Force Recon. But again that is if the Operator makes through Scout Sniper school. they pick something like 5-8 Marines out of 50-70 per class.

  2. Hate to tell you this, But all Force Recon units with the exception of the Reserves have been deactivated and most of the men that served with these units were consumed into MARSOC.  Not all of them, many went to the Recon Battalions.  There are three active battalions and one reserve battalion.  Now, you were told that 1st Force was still active, this just isn't true.  You were told that there are now "Force Recon Scout Sniper," that is only part true.  The Sniper MOS is only a billet MOS rather you serve at MARSOC, Recon Bn, STA, or a Scout Sniper Platoon, but those men that graduate the course are all Scout Snipers.  Those that served at a Force Recon unit were therefore Force Recon Scout Snipers.  Snipers were one of the many weapons platforms that can be employed by the platoons.  There were usually three snipers, one per team.  They deployed with one SASR .50 cal sniper rifle, and two M40 7.62 sniper rifles.  Those that were school trained were assigned the weapons, and would be responsible for the employment of that weapon system if the mission called for it.

You would first have to qualify for Recon.  If you are just joining ask your recruiter about this.  Once in Recon you can qualify for the Scout Sniper Course.  It is still possible for you to be a sniper, but there are not a lot of quota's, and you have to prove yourself.

Ok, I want to clear something up.  Force Recon were companines, thus the name 1st or 2nd Force Recon Co..  These companies were broken down into platoons.  Each company had 6 platoons.  They use to have more prior to the Clinton era.  The Battalions are set up similar to an infantry Battalion in that is has four companies with three platoons each.  Now for both, there are three teams in each platoon and yes, they need the Sniper capabilty.  The active duty units were 1st, 2nd, and 5th Force.  The reserve units are 3rd and 4th.

    Hope this all helps.

  3. How about you just become a Marine first..Then you can prove to yourself that you have what it takes..

How many times are people gonna tell you that Force Recon no longer exist in the active duty USMC..It was dissolved into the MARSOC unit..

And how in gods name would you expect to get into Force Recon after failing Recon..You might want to research what your getting into since you have no clue as to what your requesting to do. You might not even qualify for these positions.
