I have a weighted 4.5 GPA, but a very low 1530 SAT score. I was able to earn my GPA by working very hard, like studying until 3 in the morning. However, no matter how much I study, I can't achieve a good SAT score. I'm retaking the SAT, but I don't have much hope in it improving much. I have a wide range of extra-curriculars’ such as sports, leadership, clubs, volunteer work, but I haven't done anything particularly extraordinary. I've also gotten many honors concerning my academic and volunteer work. Will I have a good chance at getting into good UC's such as UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, or San Diego?

  1. The SAT is weighed heavily for scholarships so yes you can get in on a good GPA...but you'll have to take out a loan or pay your own way through in all likelihood.

  2. I'm not sure about Davis or San Diego, but you may want to skip UCLA and Berkeley. My friend was salutatorian and had about a 1730 on the SATs (not to mention community service out the wazoo) and got denied from both. Good luck on your SAT, and I hope you get accepted! :)
