I want to go to a UC, but I want to get my GE done at a JC first. Can I apply to a UC, get in, but then wait to go until I'm done with the GE?

  1. NO! It's hard to believe 2 people have answered yes. You can not apply to a UC and then defer. It's quite easy to transfer to UCs from community college and can even sign guaranteed transfer agreements while at the CC for most UCs, but you can not do what you describe.

  2. Yes most JC'S offer a transfer agreement. You just have to find out the transfer requirements.

  3. Yes, you can transfer and if your GPA is high at the community college, you'll have a better chance of being accepted than you will straight out of high school.  The transfer agreement makes spaces available to transfer students at the junior year.

    Good Luck!
