I went overseas for eigth grade so I didn't take the SHSAT and I won't be in NYC for 9th grade either, so is it possible to get into LaGuardia High school in NYC?

  1. Here is what it says about this on the Insideschools.org website:

"Incoming 9th and 10th graders who moved to New York City after Nov. 17, 2007 are eligible to take the Specialized High Schools Admission Test (SHSAT) for a September 2008 seat in one of the city's highly selective eight specialized exam high schools. The test will be administered at Stuyvesant High School on Monday, Aug. 25, at 8:30 a.m.

Interested in attending a specialized arts high school? Incoming 9th and 10th graders who arrived in NYC after Dec. 17 , 2007 are eligible to audition for Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for Music and Art and the Performing Arts. You may audition for drama, dance, instrumental music, vocal music, studio art and technical theater. The auditions will take place at LaGuardia High School on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at 8 a.m.

Register for the exam and/or the audition by Thursday, Aug. 21 at one of the city's enrollment offices. "

So you still have a chance to take the exam. But that is the only way to get in. (Laguardia, of course, requires an audition instead. See above.)
