Can I get my ipod to sync with another persons itunes?

I have an old ipod nano and want to transfer songs from my boyfriends itunes. When I load up his software and plug my ipod in, it does not register my ipod. How can I get it to work?

itune blocks this function since itune is the tool with one way to transfer files from itune to ipod. you must utilize other tools to achieve that.
