Hi

My wife and I have tickets and we have just seperated. I don't want to go on my own and neither does she. Seetickets say there is no refund available, but surely that can't be right. There must be some way of getting a refund or just a partial refund on something you buy and then decide you dont want. Can anyone help here?

  1. Firstly, I’m sorry to hear about your separation.  I hope you’re doing ok.

On the subject of the tickets, the problem is that because you had to register for them, and they have be assigned specifically to you, they won’t be able to reissue them to anyone else . . . and they haven’t even sold the ones that they do have, so they’re probably loathe to have to take on any more they need to get rid of.  With this in mind, DO NOT put them up for sale on eBay or craigslist.  It’s dishonest and cruel, because the buyers won’t be able to use them, and you will have conned them out of a load of cash.  You also run the risk of losing your eBay account if they report you (which I would!).  Not that I’m saying you would try to do this, I just thought I’d pre-empt your thoughts and warn you in advance!

Just in case, do try to speak to the Glasto organisers rather than just the ticket middlemen and see if there’s anything they can do.  Unlike the Glasto people themselves, the ticket sellers have no interest in customer satisfaction, just sales, so they’re unlikely to make it easy for you to get your money back.  If Glastonbury hasn’t become too commercial and corporate in its old age, the original underlying concept of peace, love, happiness etc may just hold out and be enough to get you a refund!!  I have no idea if this may be the case, but it’s certainly not worth giving up until you’ve gone to the top.

The upside of the tickets not having sold out is that people can still buy them now, even if they didn’t register before the deadline – they just need to register now instead, and there’s no time limit any more.  So, assuming that you are unable to return them (and unfortunately it does seem unlikely that you will), why not persuade some of your friends to buy tickets and you can go with them?  It could be just the escape you’re looking for . . . you never know.

    Good luck!

  2. It never hurts to ask, but because it is plainly written on their website you probably will not get your money back.  I'm sure they understand that circumstances come up, but they told you before you bought that there were no refunds.

Your best option will probably be to sell the tickets on Ebay or Craigslist.
