I was asked to serve but I have no one to take care of my 9 month child because everyone works. Will they still force me to go because there's a daycare there or will I be excused because he's only 9 months?

Btw I live in nyc. Thank you all for your information

  1. I don't think they will let you out-but you can ask at the court clerks office.

  2. No you can get it postponed once, but having a kid is not enough of a reason to get out of it.

  3. probably not, but when asked if you can be impartial, say yes, I simply do not believe that an arresting officer would lie to arrest someone....they'll pass you over.

  4. Bring the baby along, it won't be long until they are screaming to let you go!

  5. Probably not.

  6. Write a letter explaining your situation and ask if there is a daycare at the courthouse.  Be sure to be polite and nice. Jury Duty is hard to get out of so just explain the daycare problem and ask for help. Be sure to mention that you would like to perform your civic duty but.....
