Can I get out of Singapore airport during transit times?

Question

I'm flying from Australia to Vietnam. The transit point is Singapore airport and the transit time is 12 hours. I wonder they allow me to get out of the airport or not because I want to visit some of my friends in singapore before take another flight to Vietnam.

And what will happen to my luggage?

Yes, you may get out of the airport as long as you check out.

And your luggage will remain with the airport crew. They would transfer it into your next flight, etc.

UNLESS it's overnight. In which case, they would usually announce that you'd need to collect your luggage.

Yes, you can leave the airport. You'll just have to show your boarding pass and pass security again. Your luggage will be sent from Australia, directly to the airport of the end destination, in Vietnam. No worries about that. So make sure, that anything you might need during your transfer period, is in your hand luggage. Just make sure that you're back in time to pass the security and go boarding.

sure u can! i tried it b4. i was flying to London fr HK n transit in SGP also. s'time they even offer u a free half day tour to the city. when u arvd there, ask the CS desk in the middle of the airport & u wil know more. SGP airport not far fr the city so, u can grab a taxi --> city n the fare is just abt AUS$10-12 to those main districts such as Orchard Rd. a hugh mall which located rite at the edge of the city (end of highway fr the airport) named Suntec. maybe u can meet ur frds there.

but pay attn to 1 thing, as u left the immigration of SGP. u r supposingly entered to SGP so when u head back to ur transit flight. u hv to pay the aiport tax as all the other visitors. that wil be abt SGP$12 i guess. duno if they raise the fare.

n ur luggage, no worry! it wil just direct chk thru to Viet. u can just bring along ur handcarry.

when u headed out to the SGP airport after immigration. find the taxi stand which located outdoor.... dun take those limo taxi as it's far more expensive. many 1st time visitors tot the taxi counter out there = taxi u hv to take. so, find ur way out to the taxi stand ok? the airport is small, no worry!

12 hrs it's gd enuf 4 u to back & forth the city. when u go back to the airport & need ur re-entry airport tax. just approach to ur airlines & they wil help .
