Can I get out of the Navy DEP??

I want to ge tout and my fiance is already in the Navy. If i dont show up to bootcamp, will i get in trouble? Also theyre telling me if i marry him and they see my Social, we will both get in major trouble, is this true?

  1. Have you already sworn in?

    If so, then you have to wait out your contract.

    If not, then you should still be able to back out as long as it's before Basic Training...I think at least...


  2. Yes it's true. Good way to end up in Fed Prison

  3. Not true. Being in the DEP simply means that you and the Navy have agreed on a ship date, and job training. You can back out at any time. That stated, once you back out, if you change your mind several years later and want to enlist, there will be a record..........

    Tell you're recruiter you changed your mind. Do not listen to anything that involves him saying you have to.

    I personally pushed my ship date back twice and had 2 buddies who backed out just days before they were supposed to ship to marine boot.
