  1. Depends on how big a jerk the cop is, but yes you can.  It is called the passing lane for a reason.  If you are doing the speed limit  in the left lane and cars are stacking up behind you...get over to the right lane.  I believe it is called "impeding the normal flow of traffic" (one of my biggest pet pieves).

  2. http://www.drivers.com/article/149/

This is one of my favourite news articles.

A guy gets charged with obstructing traffic and mischeif (the second being a criminal offense) for doing the speed limit in the left lane. He was given the criminal offense because he was driving the speed limit deliberately to protest how its so normal for everyone to speed.

The criminal charge was dropped in exchange for a guilty plea to obstruction... but it still spells out the fact you can not do the limit in the left lane.

  3. The fast lane is regarded as a passing lane so you cannot hog it. No matter what your speed is if someone wants to pass you have to move over. You are also not to stay in it for more than a mile and a half. This usually applies to three lane highways. The answer is yes, you can get a ticket.

  4. if you aint exeding the limit..your good...

fastlane, no fast lane its all the same

  5. Technically you were driving, as in just cruising along in the passing lane. which is illegal.

that lane is not to blocked, or casually driven on. you must pass, and then get back in the right lane

  6. Yes you can.  The left lane is not the fast alne it is the passing lane.  If you are not passing anyone you can get pulled over if the cop is a d**k or if you are being a d**k by holding up traffic.  You won't get a ticket for going too slow - usually the minimum speed is 55 and it is the same in any lane.  The left lane is supposed to be used for passing, but it is still illegal to go more than the speed limit.

  7. Yes, as slower traffic you should yield to faster traffic behind you. Going slower than the flow of traffic in the passing lane is dangerous.

  8. I don't think so, but you will have cars passing you on the right because they are in a hurry and you will have people tailgateing you.

  9. you can always fight these tickets. If there is a clealy marked sign on the road stating that the left lane is for passing only and you are passing slower moving traffic in the right lane, and you are not exceeding the stated speed limit, then you are within your rights to be there.

Other 2 lane roads are just that ,,,2 lane roads,,and you can be in either one of them. In those cases you will will see signs stating slower traffic to remain on right lane. AND you can stay in the left lane as long as you maintain the posted maximum speed limit.

Most time people jut pay the ticket rather than go thruthe rigamaroo of contesting it,,but that is a grave mistake since you then sign a statement that you are guilty,,and that stays on your record permanently.

  10. If the fast lane is designated for passing only, then yes.

    Otherwise, no.
