I had a plastic frame around my license plate the kind that has the dealer name on it. It started to come off piece by piece little by little. It took some of the paint off the letter E so it kind of looks like a F. Its been like that for a while I forgot all about it till I got pulled over. I got fix it ticket for my plates. Is this against the law I have my reasons to doubt the cops. You can tell the plastic covered it up so it always looked like a F.

  1. Yes you can be pulled over for this. But, you were not issued a TICKET you were issued a Fix or Repair Order.

You have to have the issued corrected by the date on the order and provide proof that you have done so.

Easiest fix for this, get it fixed!

  2. You can't conceal any portion of your plates with anything (Christmas decorations, dealer advertisements, stickers, electronic parking gadgets, etc.) and you must replace damaged license plates.  You were lucky that you just got a ticket rather than being ordered to remove the car from the road and have it towed to impound for improper plates.

  3. if you have anything that blocks or alters your plates you can get a ticket for that. most states have that law.

one guy i worked with got a ticket for neon lights around the plates and not getting his plates changed over to the state we live in.

  4. Once I scratched my plate and got pulled over, yeah, ticket. Something about altering the tag. Once in Court, explanation. No charge, but what a hassle. Didn't help that I was a rogue on the road.Tags are supposed to stay the same way u got them. Now I have a perm. tag.

  5. So you really think the cops should be fine with you altering your license plate??

    Amazing.

  6. Oh come on, you should know by now that you can be pulled over for anything that is altered or broken on your car. Are you just bullshitting here? Or did you really not know? Hmm, maybe we should take a poll.

  7. yeah you probly can get pulled over for that. but i would go and fight the ticket or ask for it to be reduced.

  8. Your registration plate can not be altered or concealed by anything. Not even a tented plate cover. I'm not sure why the officer wrote you a citation for it unless you also received some other citation. Most officers just advise you to get it fixed.

  9. If your number plate is covered in ANY way, you can be booked.

If you cannot clearly see each number and letter, you will be booked

  10. They can pull you over for anything related to the obstruction or defacing of the license plate or tabs, yes.

  11. Yeah you can get pulled over for that.

  12. yeah you can get pulled over and ticketed for that.
