Hello,

I have my fan in my window and my neighbor sits on a lawn chair right next to the fence facing my window and smoking and my yard is small so the smell blows in. I can't see the smoke but the smell is really strong. Can I get second hand smoke from this?

Thank you.

  1. its possible. whenever you see him smoke again, just turn off the fan so that none of the smoke blows into your room.

  2. If you can smell it, yes

  3. If you can smell it, it means your breathing it in. Maybe ask your neighbour if he could smoke somewhere else, or turn off your fan.

  4. If you can smell it, you're inhaling it, and its getting into your system second-hand.  So yeah.

  5. Yeah. My friend's brother smokes and whenever I go to her house it always gets in her room (her room is by the yard).

  6. No you can't It's all in your head. People breathed in smoke for years, and weren't harmed by it. All of a sudden a group of hypochondriacs come out and say it's bad to do so.

If that were true, my sister and I, would have been dead years ago, because our father smoked 3 packs a day in the house and car, and we are still healthy. No effects by it. It's all bs. If you want to fall victim to paranoia, be my guest. But breathing it in, won't kill you. Worrying about it might.

  7. Yeah but I doubt it'll kill ya.

I enjoy how some cigarette smoke smells, I wonder if that's kind of weird, I can actually tell the difference between menthol etc.

Still I wouldn't want to be stuck in a smoke filled room.
