London Calling

As day broke

I awoke

As she spoke to me

Five in the morning

Where was the warning

Thames of tears falling

London calling

News broken

Words of love

Spoken two

Strangers belonging

To no one

To know one

That sees through

Then to the end

A true friend

I keep recalling ..falling

She keeps stalling

Where is my darling?

London calling

  1. London,here

    don't be late,

    Bangers and mash

    on the plate,

    Await you.

    She's here you know,

    All a glow,

    that London lass,

    That won't let go,

    Of you.

  2. I like your wordplay and sparse imagery. I could hear the phone ringing beside the bed.

    For our transatlantic cousins;

    Bangers :- sausages.Mash ;- mashed potato

  3. I knew this one was coming...pike, parasol and punt...down the Thames...

  4. wow....love this poem

    keep up the good work

    hee hee ^-^ lol

  5. Bangers and a pint, yes...'thames of tears'  I don't know.  The rest I like.  Do Scots allow bangers to be served in London?  Kind of like Polish sausage being served in Germany.  Probably wrong, international cuisine!

  6. "Thames of tears falling"" is really clever.  I hope the call turned out OK.

  7. Oh dear, you should always have a good meal when drinking. Things tend to get foggy otherwise!

    I do like the poem.

(What is mash? potatoes or something? I know what bangers are. I have a recipe.)

*Thank you Foggisan. Common sense told me it must be some sort of spud, but you never know!
