I want to go to school during the day. I can afford child care for work but not to go school. I was wondering if maybe FAFSA helps or if there are any grants? I live in PA and I know that there are is a child care assistance in my state and I am on the list of it's about a 7 month wait. Does anyone know what I could do to get a little assistance?

  1. When you apply for grants and loans through your financial aid office, they establish a cost of attendance budget for you that includes direct charges from the school such as tuition & fees, and indirect charges such as living expense components such as travel, room & board, etc.

Day care expenses are not automatically included, but if you provide documentation on costs you may be able to appeal this and have them add it to your overall budget.  This will allow you to take out loans to help pay for these childcare costs.

Your best bet, especially because you have children, is to try and cut your expenses as much as possible and borrow as little as possible.  This can be difficult to do though giving circumstances.

Talk to your financial aid office about this and they should be able to help you.

  2. financial aid and grants are to pay for your schooling, not for child care. have you checked if your school has a daycare?
