  1. well you need to take very good care of it...they are very sensible...besides giving them food you have to love them play withe it (they are very social and bond very quietly with you)

you should give them vegetable  carrot, salad, apple, grass, hay, also you can by some food hamster( BUT DON'T REPLACE THE FOOD HAMSTER WITH THE VEGETABLE) its not healthy for them

you can also leave them to wonder a few hours through your house or you're back yard if they have  a small space in which they stay so that they can run and be happy (these guys run in the wild 8 km a day) so its good for them...

  2. Nice choice! I love syrian hamsters or teddy bears like ppl call them. Make sure that the hamster you choose has no injuries and his/her eyes are clear and alert. Nose should be a little bit wet but not runny or dry. Check the rear end to make sure he doesn't have 'wet tail' or diarrhoea.

Raising one is pretty simple. Get some chew sticks to trim your hamsters teeth as they can get really long and make them stop eating resulting in death. My hamsters love the long stick ones that are different flavours and you can hang them in the cage. Natural nibblers are also good.

Get a cage that has a reasonable amount of  room a wheel and a water bottle, and has a little house in it.

I like the Living World Classic food for my hamsters.

When you bring your hamster home just let it look around in it's cage and don't try to touch it till like 4 or 5 days later so it can settle in his home. When you think it's time to take your hamster out of his cage and get used to you then try this. Put one of  your hands up against the cage with a treat in it...if he quikley snatches the treat for you then just try again later. The next  day try it with no treat and if he gets on your hand them start petting him and if he is a 'good boy' or girl then give him a treat. Try that for a couple of days and then stop the treats and play with him on the floor (somewhere where he can walk around without getting into trouble)

    You'll have a tamed hamster!

  3. Always pick an active hamster. Make sure his eyes are bright and he has no crusties around his eyes or nose. His fur should look like he grooms himself well. He shouldn't have any scabs at all. You also want him to be friendly, if he seems agressive or standoffish at all he probably isn't the hamster for you.

Do not plan on getting any more than one hamster unless you have 2 cages, these hamsters are solitary and will fight to the death.

Hamsters are pretty easy to care for: You make sure he has plenty of high quality food, fresh water, a clean cage, lots of love. In the cage you should have things to keep your hamster busy so he doesn't get bored. A wheel and chew sticks are very helpful. Hamster balls are great when you are cleaning his cage(Weekly) so he can roam your house in safety.

  4. it's very easy, you will need the basic things like cage, wheel, food bowl, water bottle, tubes, hamster toys, food, water, and then chose the hamster that you like most, by time hamsters become quite tame.  Search around on hamster sites like the one below to get started and then by experience you will see how lovely it is in raising a hamster :)

  5. Pick out a nice cage. Petsmart and petco sell Crittertrail.  The X is cool, and Dazzle is too.  But they are all good.  Use carefresh bedding. It's safe for them, unlike pine and cedar.  Get an exercise ball.  Clean cage every week, wash with warm water and dish soap.  Never feed onions, salt, sugar, chocolate. Let them out in the evening to run in the ball for about an hour.  Don't wake them up during the day.

  6. I have a teddy bear hamster. The only thing is my isn't even a year old and he is 5 inches! He bites if you hurt him but i would recommend a teddy bear hamster, a fancy hamster or a panda bear hamster. You can find a teddy bear hamster at petco or a fancy hamster and panda bear hamster at pet supplies plus!

  7. You should definetly get hamsters at Earl May. They have Teddy Bear hamsters and Dwarf hamsters for $10.00 each. You will need the basic things. A cage, food, water bottle, spare water bottle, shavings, wheel, ball, and a mineral block. Teddy Bear hamsters are less likely to bite. You can ask an employee how old they are. Keep in mind that hamsters live 5-7 year on average. You'll have to determine whether you want a male or female.  If you can't decide between hamsters and decide to get both, don't put them in the same cage. They are very territorial and one will eventually end up killing the other. Make sure the wheels don't squeak and that they will move when the hamster runs on it. If they give you a 30 day life warranty (if they die within 30 days you can get a new one if you have that warranty) be sure to keep it. You can look up online the recomended foods and all that. Hope I helped☺!

  8. ha, yesterday i went to the pet store to buy my new hamster timbit... i held them all and the teddy bear jumped out of my hands and bumped his nose... he was so cute.....

    anyway.

a good hamster has clear, shiny eyes, a dry nose, is solid, not bony, no wet fur, and no dirty fur. he will be curious and sort of clumsy, but light footed, if you know what i mean. remeber to hold at least three so you know you picked the best one.

bring him home and leave him for a while. then you can start to give him treats through the bars of the cage, then in you hand, and finally then try to pick him up. soon he'll get used to you.

feed him 2 teaspoons of mix a day, with a baby carrot or other tiny bit of veggie. some apple once a week is good.

buy a litter box, and but some soiled bedding in it. soon he'll understand it's his toilet. empty the litter box every day and completely remove and disinfect the cage once or twice every two weeks. you don't need to clean it as much if you empty the litter bin every day.

remeber they are nocturnal so don't disturb them when sleeping!
