I'm aiming for 1000watt rms. What do powered subs sound like and can they get THIS rough? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2K--HVBXc4&feature=related I really want a loud home theater hookup! I mean, subs and speakers to shatter my bedroom windows!

  1. So you want boomy, over-bloated bass like a boom car?

    (sigh)

You dont want power, you want driver size.  Take a small 8" woofer and you must use 800-3,000 watts to try and get low and loud bass.

Take a 12 or 16 inch driver and you only need 300-500 watts and the sound is a lot smoother.

Check out SVS woofers or HSU Research.

You can save as much as 2/3 the price if you buy a kit subwoofer from www.partsexpress.com

Note: when you hear a boom-car, everyone around is thinking the guy behind the wheel is ... short in some manly area so he's over-compensating with sound.  Dont be that guy. Get strong, smooth bass in your home with a single, large sub.

  2. you will need a hi-power AV receiver and a powered sub-woofer.

    AV receiver : rated 200W / channel

    Sub-woofer : Active sub with 1000W power

Speakers : front and rear speaker rated min. 200W

Sub generate very low frequency usually between 20Hz to 300Hz which functioned as window shatter.
