Yes, I've done the trip myself between Belfast and Stranraer. It's about 2 hours drive from Glasgow, and they also have good bus and train links. The train station is right next to the ferry terminal.

You can get a ferry to Stranraer, there are trains from there to Glasgow. I'm not sure why you'd want to use a ferry unless you're taking a car with you, as flying is a lot faster and probably cheaper.
