  1. Sure, cats NEED pedialyte for their general well being. If your cat stares at you for more than 2 seconds, uses the kitty litter and does NOT completely cover everything, or runs around chances are its suffering from kidney failure.

  2. If you want a proper diagnosis, go to a vet. Only the vet can test for feline leukemia and kidney failure. If you have more than one cat, get them all tested for feline leukemia. My vet told me that feline leukemia is like the equivalent to AIDS in humans. Also, the vet can give insight into giving a cat pedialyte and may have recommendations for something different that you can use. When in doubt, ask a vet! ^_^

  3. I don't know about leukemia, but we have dealt with kidney failure for many years. The symptoms are excessive drinking of water (and resulting excess peeing), lethargy and weight loss. What you need to do is to take the cat to the vets where they will diagnose the problem and recommend the proper treatment. Both diseases are relatively easy to manage if you know what you are dealing with.

  4. yes, you can give pure plain pedialyte but it does nothing for either FELV or kidney failure.  But I absolutely positively recommend you don't, and you get the kitty to a vet for a proper diagnosis.  If you try to treat something and you don't know what it is, you could be making the situation much much worse, leaving your kitty either uncomfortable or in pain and cost you a lot more in the long run to treat.
