Can I give my gerbils pine cones to chew?

If I freeze pine cones to kill the bugs can i give them to gerbils to chew

i would take off the little kernels and let your gerbil chew on those, instead    

of giving them the whole pinecone

It depends though. If the pine cones are fully grown and spiky, it is best not to give them it for they could hurt themselves crawling over and around it.

You could just buy plain wood sticks for it to chew on...

Umm...I've never heard of pine cones as chew toys. So no i don't think you should because if it's not eatable for the human then hy would it be okay for a gerbil to chew on. Plus they might have the sap from trees sunken into the pine cone still which is bad for the health of a poor gerbil.
