Question:

Can I give my pet away...?

Of course I would give away a dog if it bit people, idiots. A hamster is different. It will not know the difference apart from a much more luxurious lifestyle. Please DO NOT tell me not to sell my hamster as it is my choice, and is also in the best interest of the hamster. Oh btw, I have a dog if you did not see. It needs all the attention it can get. I tell you what, I will dedicate all my time to a hamster and let my dog disintegrate in the garden. Happy? Please don't tell me not to sell it, you do not know the situation I am in well enough to suggest my reconsidering. Thank You.

  1. I don't believe in giving pets away..

but if u really want to...there's something called:

    EBAY

  2. They would probably take it. Or, you could see if there was anyone you knew that would like to have a hamster that you could give it away to. Good Luck!

  3. Try an animal refuge or pet shop. Well done for being brave enough to admit you can't look after it properly and wanting to give it a better home.

  4. i just wanted to support you i think your absolutely right in giving ur hamster away because i know that there are worse people that do worse things like letting them starve or poisons......PLEASE DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED AND DO THAT........but definitely check out pet stores and put out a sign that says your giving it away for free and be patient because it may take awhile.

  5. russian dwarfs are pretty rare and im sure pet stores would be willing to buy it from you

  6. They probably would take it if it was a baby, but I'm not sure they'd take an adult hamster.

  7. please don't consider eBay!!  you're not allowed to sell live animals on ebay anyway...  i would try to find someone you know and trust who might want it.  or try the petstores, or humane society...  maybe even ask at your local veterinary clinic for ideas.  BTW, what is so evil about the little guy??  too bad we are far apart, i would have taken him!  :(

  8. Give it to the nearest humane society or animal shelter. You could also put adds in the newpaper in the for sale section about giving away a free hamster, or hamster for 5 bucks or something?

If you feel you still want a pet, (I know you have a dog already), besides the hamster, you might want to get a guinea pig as they do not smell, do not, bite. They are very affectionate and resaonably smarter than a stupid little hamster.  Guinea pigs are social and loved to be held, as they will not squirm everywhere like a hamster would. Guinea pigs are dander-free, so many ppl don't have allergy problems. They will l**k like a dog (yes, they do l**k!, they are affectionate little things!), purr like a cat (oh yes, they do purr...), and yet are soft and small like a bunny!  Anyways, guinea pigs, just a thought for a futre pet...

GOOD LUCK W/ SELLING UR HAMSTER!

  9. I dont belive in giving away pets

  10. I would give it to a relative, or somebody I know. That way, if you ever want to see him again, you can find him more easily.

  11. Wow, a lot of people are misinformed here. I mean, come on, release it into the wild? Russian Campbell Dwarf Hamsters are rare? Lol...

Definitely look around and try to find someone to take it in. Post an ad in the Classifieds section of the newspaper. Go on the internet and list the hamster in the pets section, like Craigslist for example. Good luck!!!

Actually, your hamster probably will notice the difiference because it will be in a different environment and will probably be stressed out a little bit for a day or two. But he will get used to it.

  12. Perhaps you can post in on ebay. Someone there might be loooking for the exact kind of hamster as yours.

  13. Okay, get this: you CAN'T sell live animals on ebay and (at least where I live) PetSmart and PetCo CANNOT take in animals because they could be harboring illnesses that could infect the whole store. I suggest a local pet shelter (may or may not take hamsters though), a local pet store (not a large chain type, just a ma & pa store - they might be more willing to take him), or maybe you've got a friend who wouldn't mind caring for him. Or an older/younger sibling would work too, if you aren't an only child. Otherwise, he's already half-way through his life span so it wouldn't be too much longer you'll have to care for him.

I don't really agree with your comment about hamsters being as thick as pig ****. :) But you're right, they absolutely will not notice a new animal and eventhough other people here may not think so - giving away an animal is in it's best interest if you think you're not able to give it the love/attention it needs. So, good for you for willing to give him a new home.

DO NOT RELEASE IT INTO THE WILD. That is the stupidest idea ever - yes, hamsters were once wild animals but now they have been domesticated and cannot care for themselves.

  14. take it the humane society, they usually work to give them a good home.

  15. What is wrong with you? Dont give it away! Would you give away your dog if it bit people? I dont think so! How is a hamster any different? They are both living creatures.

  16. You can give it up to a rescue shelter...and do some research maybe hamsters were originally in the wild and you could release it into a forest??  Ask a vet and see what all of your options are...perhaps you can give it to your vet and they can take care of the rest (giving it away to someone who comes in there store that might want it).

  17. I bought a dwarf hamster, and they only live for a few years.  The Russian Dwarf hamster we have right now is extremely vicious.  We believe that is because it is territorial.  Whenever I managed to take her out of her cage, she calmed down.

Anyways, I believe if they already have a Russian Dwarf hamster, you could take it there.

  18. I'm pretty sure stores like pet smart and petco would probabally even take it.

  19. Try craigslist or something first, just put up an add to get rid of it for free,. Then if anything take it to the humanes society.

  20. your best bet is to ask around. Go on line and google pet shelters. They have tons of sights that take in all kinds of unwanted pets.Place an add in your local newspaper. Just ask around and see if someone wants it. They always have people that would love and care for a free pet.

  21. where do you live i'll take it!!!
