He is a very small white mouse who sometimes emits an unpleasant odor. Is it safe to give him a bath? If so, can I use any type of cleaning agent as in, Mr. Bubbles or Bath and Body Works freesia scented body wash.

  1. yes you can give it a bath but nothing that is harsh or has a strong smell, i bath my rats and mice with a hypo allergenic baby shampoo with low odor.  you might want to call your vet or pet shop where you bought it from cause a bad smell could mean an infection

  2. I would definitely avoid washing him with water. Go for a dust bath.

  3. Unless he's gotten into something that is dangerous to leave on him, or you're treating him for parasites, you shouldn't wash him.  The smell is from a musk gland male mice have, and washing him won't help.  It won't be good for him, either.  Do not use anything scented on him!

You need to clean the cage every few days, but not too often, either.  He's marking his territory, so he'll compensate if you make that too hard for him.  Bottom line, though, male mice smell.

  4. You should check with a vet about the odor. But it is safe to give him a bath. There is this special type of bath powder that they use. You can buy the powder at any pet store. All you do is place the dust in a container or a bath house you can buy. Then you place the mouse in and he does the cleaning. If you don't get what I'm saying, you can ask the person who works there how to use it. (:

  5. Most Rodents are notorious groomers, constantly cleaning themselves just as much as cats do, so no i never gave my hamsters or guinea pigs baths.

  6. why would anybody have a mouse as a pet???

  7. yes you can use a little warm water not hot just slightly warm and maybe a little soft soap just a little tiny bit dont get the soap in the mouses eyes or ears of you get soap in there immediately wash it out and call a vet ok

  8. Yes, you can give him a bath... dont overbathe him!!!  and usually he shouldnt smell to bad if you're cleaning his cage regurally.  Cleaning his cage is much safer than actually cleaning him.
