my 29 month old has been throwing up 2 times in the last 4 days, she also had a very mild fever yesterday but other than that she is playing and being herself, my mom keeps telling me to give her pepto, but I feel like I should just let this bug run it's course. does anyone have any suggestions? I appreciate it!

  1. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO there is aspiring in it call your doctor to bring her in

  2. THey have children's pepto.  I think there's an age limit.  They also have mylocon for babies with sour tummies and an anti nasea med at walmart over the counter.  I think it just may be the flew.  Call the baby's doctor and ask if its okay for their specific needs and make an appointment.

  3. I would not give her pepto at all no, but there are medicines designed for babies with the flu. Try baby tylenol, or tempera, those are my 2 favorite!

  4. I'd call your pediatrician and ask them for advice.  One thing about our parents is that quite a bit of stuff they were told they could do or couldn't do when they had us is no longer the case.

Case in point, they were told to lay their babies on their stomach during sleeping so if they spat up during the night they wouldn't choke on it.  We now know that sleeping on the stomach increases the chances of SIDS and that they sleep with their head tilted so if they do spit up it usually just drains out or sits int heir mouth and the likelihood of choking is a lot less then the likelihood of SIDS.

  5. I have a 23 months old son and a nephew who is four days older, we tried to stay away from any pepto but they both got sick and were projectile vomiting...we went to the children's medicines and got the dissolving pepto tablets. We broke the tablets in half and gave it to them, they never had any issues with it. Later I asked my pediatrician and she said it was fine but be very careful of an overdose and do not give it to them more than 2 times in a 24 hour period. She said too much could cause them to become overly constipated. It is fine as long as you get the children's tablets and at least half it.

    Hope that helps.

  6. I'd call your pediatrician and ask what you can safely give your child and possibly even take them in if this has been going on for several days.

You can use pedialyte for them to keep them hydrated, especially if they are throwing up or have diarreah at all. I keep it on hand for my son. He loves the grape flavored one served cold when he needs it.   Give her some tylenol. Pepto is probably not a good idea because it says right on the package not to use it on children that young without consulting a doctor first.

    On side notes:

Mylicon is NOT for nausea- it's for gas so using that won't do you any good. That would be like giving a kid a bandaid for a broken arm. It would be pointless.

Childrens pepto is intended for kids under 12 and at least 6, not for infants and toddlers.

  7. CALL YOU'RE PEDIATICIAN.
